Aston Villa have been told how much they’ll need to pay to sign Marco Asensio on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain, Sport reports.
Asensio’s January loan move to Villa has worked a treat for all parties involved.
The PSG forward has reinvented himself at Villa Park after failing to make the cut in the French capital, and there are now talks of a potential permanent move to the Premier League.
After being frozen out of the PSG squad by Luis Enrique, the Spanish winger jumped at the chance to play under Unai Emery in the Premier League.
It has proven to be a shrewd move, with the ex-Real Madrid ace bagging seven goals in eight games even though he hasn’t cemented a spot in Emery’s starting line-up.
His electric start in Birmingham has given him a new lease on life, and the Spanish forward is now eager to make his stay permanent.
Asensio has taken to life in the Midlands like a duck to water, and his impact off the bench has quickly established him as a fan favourite.
His current deal with PSG runs until June 2026, but they will not stand in the way of a summer exit.
However, they have slapped a €15 million (£12.5m) price tag on Asensio – a fee that wouldn’t be a problem for the Premier League outfit.
Rumour has it that both clubs have already held an initial round of talks.
Asensio could be a valuable long-term addition to Villa’s squad, given his vast experience and winning mentality.
Villa believe PSG’s asking price could be a bargain for a player of Asensio’s calibre, especially after his resurgence under Emery.
The two clubs are set to face off in the Champions League quarter-finals next month.
Asensio has scored three Champions League goals in two games for Villa and could use next month’s mouth-watering tie as a platform to prove his worth to the club.
