Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur clash in the Premier League on Friday 16th May at 7:30pm. The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports.
Three of the last six Premier League meetings between these sides have featured four or more goals, including the last two.
Brennan Johnson has scored in each of his last two matches against Aston Villa, while he’s the only Tottenham player to hit double figures in the Premier League this season.
After losing to Manchester City and exiting the FA Cup disastrously against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa gave their European hopes a boost by beating Fulham 1-0 last time out. Unai Emery’s men remain seventh, but just three points adrift of Chelsea in the fifth and final Champions League spot.
Villa will be hopeful against a Tottenham side whose focus is now entirely on the Europa League. Ange Postecoglou’s side lead Bodo/Glimt 3-1 after the first leg of their semi-final and should they progress, changes will be made for this Premier League fixture. Speaking of league matters, the Spurs have taken just five points from their last nine matches, slipping to 16th in the table.
Marcus Rashford is a major doubt but Villa could have a full squad available otherwise.
Tottenham will definitely be without James Maddison, Radu Dragusin and Lucas Bergvall for this match.
Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 in the FA Cup earlier this season. However, Spurs have enjoyed recent dominance in the Premier League with 4-1 and 0-4 wins home and away, respectively.
