The former Chelsea manager was appointed on Thursday and faces a quick turnaround as the Hammers begin life without Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked on Wednesday.

Villa, meanwhile, got back to winning ways on Saturday in their victory over Leicester.

Though this season has proven slightly more arduous for Unai Emery’s side given their Champions League commitments, the Villa boss cannot be doubted in knockout competition.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Aston Villa vs West Ham is scheduled for an 8pm GMT kick-off time tonight, Friday, January 10, 2025.

Villa Park in Birmingham will host.

Aston Villa vs West Ham team news

Villa will welcome back Morgan Rogers after he missed the Leicester game through suspension, having picked up five yellow cards in the Premier League this season.

Jhon Duran is suspended, while all of Jaden Philogene, John McGinn, Diego Carlos and Pau Torres are expected to miss out through injury.

West Ham could be without Jean-Clair Todibo following a rather pessimistic update about the defender following the City defeat. Emerson Palmieri also missed that game through injury.

Jarrod Bowen is facing up to two months out of action, though Lukasz Fabianski could return in goal.

Michail Antonio has been released from hospital as he continues to recover from surgery on a lower limb fracture sustained in a road traffic accident last month.

Aston Villa vs West Ham prediction

West Ham will hope the so-called new manager bounce will propel them into the fourth round, but this Villa side is one to be feared - especially at home.

The FA Cup is famously unpredictable - or at least that is its reputation - but there has been little surprising about West Ham failings this season. The gulf between the two sides, even with Villa’s injuries, is significant and cup specialist Unai Emery should get the job done.

Aston Villa to win, 3-1.
