One of the areas that FC Barcelona are looking to strengthen in the next summer transfer window is that of the centre-forward. While Robert Lewandowski started this season in very good form, he has recently cooled down significantly, and there are also concerns at the Catalan club about his age.

For this purpose, the Blaugranes have been linked with several players, like Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyokeres, but are yet to make a final decision on which of these players they would like to sign as Lewandowski’s long-term replacement.

In these circumstances, SPORT reports that another striker whom Barcelona have in their sights is the Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.

After impressing at Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad, the Swede joined the Magpies in 2022 for €70 million. However, for his performances and future projections, Barcelona have always been interested in him.

After a slow first season of adaptation, last season, he scored 25 goals in 40 games for Newcastle. This season, he is also on track to reach these numbers, as he has already scored 11 goals, which place him in the 4th place of the highest goalscorers in the Premier League, after Salah, Haaland, and Cole Palmer.

However, one aspect that can make this operation quite difficult for Barcelona is his high price, as he is currently rated at around €180 million by the Premier League side. This is clearly a sum that would be very difficult for Barcelona to reach because of their financial problems of the last few years.

Isak has a contract with Newcastle United till 2028, and the Magpies have no intentions of selling him. Other Premier League sides like Arsenal and Liverpool are also following him closely, but he looks to be a highly unlikely candidate for Lewandowski’s replacement because of Barcelona’s poor finances.
