Atalanta said in a statement that they have signed creative midfielder Gianluca Gaetano from Cagliari for a reported €14m including add-ons.
The 26-year-old was requested by new coach Maurizio Sarri to add different characteristics to the squad, especially with Ederson on his way to Manchester United.

An agreement was reached this week for a reported €12m plus €2m in performance bonuses. Gaetano underwent medical tests in the last 24 hours before being formally unveiled as an Atalanta player.
A Napoli youth product, he played little for his hometown club, spending loan spells at Cremonese and Cagliari. The Sardinian side bought him outright last summer for €6.2m, then more than doubled that price within a year.
Gaetano has 93 Serie A appearances, with 10 goals and 11 assists, and five Champions League games. Pre-season began today in Bergamo.
