Atalanta are said to be lining up former Juventus full-back Nicolo Savona as a replacement for Marco Palestra, who is attracting Inter and Manchester City, according to Calciomercato.com.
The 21-year-old has been a standout in the 2025-26 Serie A season while on loan at Cagliari, earning his first Italy appearances. He is owned by Atalanta, and both City and Inter, where he spent a year in their youth ranks, are keen ahead of 2026-27.
Any move is likely to bring a significant pay rise, with his current Atalanta contract said to be worth €280,000 per year.
The report adds that Savona is well known to newly appointed sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Savona was sold by Juventus to Nottingham Forest last summer for €13.5m plus €2.5m in bonuses, along with a 10% sell-on clause.
The Next Gen graduate impressed during the first half of the Premier League season, but a knee injury curtailed his campaign and he is yet to fully recover.
