Athletic loan Eder García to Córdoba and sell Duñabeitia to Sporting | OneFootball

Athletic have loaned Eder García to Córdoba for next season and sold Aimar Duñabeitia to Sporting, both in the Segunda División.

The Duñabeitia move, finalised on Wednesday, was for an undisclosed fee. The club said in a statement that it has retained performance-related add-ons, a sell-on percentage, a right of first refusal and a buy-back option.

García, from Rentería, joined Lezama a year ago and made his first-team debut last season, with Ernesto Valverde using him against Elche and Barcelona. He also impressed for Bilbao Athletic, playing 34 games and scoring four.

The loan follows recent pathways for academy products Gerenabarrena and Canales that proved beneficial for Athletic. Similar results are expected for García, who arrived from Zubieta only last year.

Duñabeitia, a 23-year-old centre-back, made 71 appearances for the B team and scored five. Athletic thanked him for his commitment at Lezama and wished him well in his personal and professional future.
