Athletic mourns death of Julen Guerrero’s wife, Elsa Landabaso | OneFootball

Athletic Club has issued a statement lamenting the death of Elsa Landabaso, wife of former footballer Julen Guerrero, and expressing support for him. The club said in a statement that it shared his grief and sent deepest condolences.

The message, shared on social media with an image of Guerrero in an Athletic shirt at a tribute, included the Basque phrase Gugan bego, meaning rest in peace.

Numerous supporters also posted messages of encouragement. Guerrero, now a director at the Federación Vizcaína de Fútbol, received condolences from the organisation to his family and friends.

Julen and Elsa married 26 years ago in Derio. They have two children, Karla, 25, and Julen Jon, 22.

Their younger son has followed his father into football. After spells in the Alavés and Real Madrid academies, he now plays for Getafe B in Segunda Federación. Getafe also conveyed condolences to Landabaso’s family and to Julen Jon.
