This week, talkSPORT reported that Kobbie Mainoo is open to leaving Manchester United in the final days of the transfer window if the right offer comes in. So what exactly does this have to do with PSG? Well, the Parisians are told to keep an eye on this situation.

Mainoo has been an unused substitute in both of United’s opening Premier League matches this season. The England international has yet to agree to a new contract, with his current deal running until 2027.

Reports suggest he is seeking wages of around £150,000 a week to better reflect his value to the club. United, meanwhile, have been open to listening to offers but are hesitant to let go of homegrown talent as they look to navigate PSR requirements.

Could Kobbie Mainoo be going to Spain?

Whether or not Mainoo becomes a realistic target for PSG remains to be seen. However, there is one prominent team keen on the youngster as the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan reports that Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid are monitoring the situation of Mainoo.

On the latest Ensemble PSG Podcast, Robin Bairner, chief editor at Football Transfers, stated one name that Parisians might not be able to get this summer, but should be all over on when the January window approaches.

“I think maybe one to look at might be Kobbie Mainoo at Manchester United,” Bairner said. “I think he’d be an interesting one to look at, just off the top of my head, because he’s clearly an immensely talented player, but he doesn’t really fit into Ruben Amorim’s system.

“Amorim wants players who are all about intensity, whereas there’s a feeling that Mainoo is lacking a little bit of mobility. I think he could potentially fit into a team like PSG where you’ve got that high tariff on technical ability and being able to play in possession.”
