Atlético: Julián Álvarez disappoints again

Atlético Madrid: Julián Álvarez in turmoil
Atlético Madrid's qualification for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 was met with relief in the Spanish capital. After the thrilling 3-3 draw in the first leg, the Colchoneros finally overpowered Club Brugge KV in the return fixture (4-1), fueled by an Alexander Sørloth hat-trick and several crucial saves from goalkeeper Jan Oblak.
While the team's collective performance spared the Madrid club from a premature exit, one player continues to draw criticism: Julián Álvarez. The Argentine striker, already struggling in recent weeks, once again failed to impress and was substituted before the hour mark by Diego Simeone.
The Spanish press has been harsh with him. In its pages, Marca gave him the lowest rating on the team, while AS summed up his performance bluntly:
"Discreet once again. He tries things, but nothing comes off. Too many lost balls when he tries to combine in midfield and lacking composure in front of goal."
Another difficult outing that further fuels the debate about his place in the rojiblanca attack.
