Clube Atlético Mineiro and Jorge Sampaoli have ended their collaboration after just five months. The Argentine, who arrived on September 2, 2025, paid the price for a string of disappointing results: only two wins in the last ten matches.
During his stint at Atlético Mineiro, Sampaoli was in charge for 34 games, averaging 1.32 points per match. His main achievement remains reaching the Copa Sudamericana final, which was lost on penalties to Lanús. This was his second spell at the club, following a previous tenure between 2020 and 2021.
For the time being, no new head coach has been appointed. Assistant coach Lucas Gonçalves will temporarily take charge of the team for Saturday's match against Itabirito.
