Aurélien Tchouaméni is a major doubt for France’s quarter-final against Morocco on Thursday at 22:00 after missing Sunday’s session, though a faint hope remains he could test himself by Wednesday. Marcus Thuram is nearing a return.

According to L'Équipe, the day after the 1-0 win over Paraguay, starters did recovery work at Bentley University, with some, including Michael Olise, limited to brief bike efforts, while substitutes such as Désiré Doué and Rayan Cherki completed a full session under Guy Stéphan.

Thuram, who was ruled out of the last 32 and last 16 by a calf lesion, worked separately with fitness coach Cyril Moine and increased his running. His return to full training is imminent and, barring a surprise, he should be available on Thursday.

Tchouaméni sustained an adductor lesion in the eve-of-match session before Paraguay and has continued treatment. Asked on Saturday, he said only that they would see.

He is using both the national staff and his own trusted professionals to hasten recovery, and could try to resume by Wednesday to gauge his sensations. Even so, his involvement remains highly uncertain, and the staff do not want to take risks with a potential semi-final in Dallas on 14 July.
