Baldanzi with a chance to start vs Cremonese

Today’s edition of Il Romanista claims that Tommaso Baldanzi could start in Roma’s next game.

The situation has changed rapidly compared to a few weeks ago: from surplus to requirements to become a key player, the former Empoli player could find himself starting against Cremonese at the heart of the Giallorossi attack, in a unit that enters the match without any real offensive reference points.

The squad’s condition is pushing in this direction. Dovbyk and Dybala remain out, while Ferguson—despite returning to training with the group—is still not fully fit.

Bailey, however, is still working on individual training. This combination of roles is leading Gian Piero Gasperini to consider returning Baldanzi to the role of false nine. The idea is not new. It was already floated in the last league match before the break, against Udinese, a game the Giallorossi won and in which Baldanzi had shown encouraging signs.

The performance left a positive mark, enough to warrant a return in a match that could weigh heavily on the race for the top spot.

This move stems from necessity, but also from a desire to capitalize on the young attacking midfielder’s talents, as Roma seeks consistency in a period where the squad requires careful management and creative solutions.
