Benfica are weighing right-back changes for next season on the back of Daniel Banjaqui’s progress, according to Glorioso 1904. The hierarchy led by Rui Costa could open the door for departures in that role.

The 18-year-old, shirt number 58, has impressed and is to be promoted to the senior squad next season, a scenario that could see Amar Dedic or Alexander Bah move on.

Benfica plan to keep Banjaqui, with his contract now running to the summer of 2031 underlining that stance. José Mourinho appreciates his profile and he has strong chances of becoming a regular option in 2026/27.

For now, he will continue to feature for both the secondary and senior groups. After a standout week with Portugal’s under-21s, he could be included in the squad to face Casa Pia, aided by Dedic’s absence.

This season he has played 27 matches for Benfica, 14 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in Liga Revelação, two in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,837 minutes, the right-back has one goal and five assists. He is valued at 5 million euros.
