Barcelona may have lost 3-1 in Dortmund, their first defeat of 2025, but it didn’t stop them from booking a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

Thanks to a convincing 4-0 win at Montjuic in the first leg, Barça progressed 5-3 on aggregate, eliminating Borussia Dortmund and heading to the semis as one of the firm favourites.

Barcelona add €15 million to their kitty

In light of their quarterfinal triumph over Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona have added €15 million more to their coffers, which is more than what was budgeted for.

Unlike the group stage, where UEFA rewards wins (€2.7 million) and draws (€0.7 million), the knockout rounds are all about progression.

Reaching the semi-finals alone brings a bonus of €15 million, and for Barcelona, every euro counts, as they gear up for a crucial summer ahead. The club, meanwhile, had only budgeted to reach the quarter-finals, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Earlier reports suggest Barça had already earned €7 million more than expected in the league phase by collecting more points.

Now, their total income from this Champions League season stands at a remarkable €116.5 million, which is just shy of the €117.7 million they earned in 2018-19, the last time they reached the semi-finals.

Even if they don’t reach the final, Barcelona are on course to break their revenue record from UEFA competitions.

The club will benefit from the ‘market pool’, which factors in TV rights, sponsorship, and domestic performance, as well as UEFA’s new ‘value pillar’ concept, which includes a 10-year historical ranking.

They already earned €22.44 million from the market pool and €11.41 million from the coefficient share, only behind giants like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Should they go all the way, UEFA offers an additional €6.5 million for winning the final and further bonuses tied to the UEFA Super Cup.
