Although FC Barcelona started the season without any experienced and natural midfield pivot in their squad, the Catalans were rather fortunate as Marc Bernal and Marc Casado stepped up to cover this important area of the pitch.

As things stand, the Blaugranes have this position well covered, with Marc Casado continuing to impress and Marc Bernal also expected to be a long-term option for this position once he returns from his injury.

However, according to Fichajes, there is another player that Barcelona have in their sights for this position, the Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume.

The Frenchman has established himself as a key part of this Sevilla team under Garcia Pimienta, and his performances with the Andalusian side are also attracting the interest of other top European clubs.

In fact, the report claims that the Premier League side Arsenal are also interested in the midfielder, and actually have an advantage in the race for his signature. They are currently looking for a replacement for Thomas Partey, whose contract is ending and who can leave the club at the end of this season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are also interested in him mainly because of his high-level performances at 22 years of age, he has already shown himself to be quite a versatile option in the midfield with a lot of room for future growth.

Sevilla themselves might be forced to accept offers from one of these clubs, even though they want to keep him as a pillar of their team, because of their financial difficulties.

Another club that can benefit from a potential transfer of the Frenchman is Inter Milan, as the Italians have a 50% share on any future transfer fee obtained for him.

For now, Barcelona do not really have an urgent need to get a player of Agoume’s characteristics, and it remains to be seen where he will play in the coming months.
