Barcelona are apparently still quite upset that Chelsea got the steal on one of their La Masia gems, striker Marc Guiu.
They are still not over it, and as well as that, they are putting measures in place at the club to stop something like that happening again.
I mean, Guiu has hardly lit it up at Chelsea so far. He’s only a deep backup player right now. But he’s still very young, has been showing a lot of promise, and really just needs to go out on loan now so he can develop and play regular football at a starting level – like he was supposed to this season anyway.
Chelsea of course recalled Guiu from his loan with Sunderland due to an injury to Liam Delap very early in the season. But now, he’s just left to pretty much be a bench player at the very most, which will not be helping his development as a young player at all.

Thursday’s edition of Sport covers Guiu’s move to Stamford Bridge in 2024 and the impact it has had on Barcelona.
Sport claim the 20-year-old’s agent, ‘suddenly, unexpectedly and without warning’, had informed Barca of his transfer to join Chelsea.
Barca couldn’t block the move because Chelsea had triggered his €6m clause. For Hansi Flick’s side, it was a ‘major blow. Especially given how unexpected the news was.’
The newspaper state: ‘Guiu’s painful departure marked a turning point for the Barca offices’.
To avoid being helpless in future, Barcelona ‘implemented a new system of clauses’ to stop unexpected departures of La Masia rising stars.
Sport state: ‘This new measure, championed by Alexanco, Deco, and others, has been maintained with all contract extensions signed since June/July 2024. Thus, all players born in 2008 who had not yet renewed their contracts for the youth academy at that time signed with these new clauses in their agreements.’
