Barcelona beat Real Madrid to ‘spectacular’ Byron Mendoza | OneFootball

La Liga giants Barcelona have beaten out the competition to secure the signature of one of Spanish football’s most highly-regarded young talents.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who name Byron Mendoza as the player in question.

Mendoza, for his part, is a 14-year-old attacker, who generally operates out wide.

Boasting a wand of a left foot, the Spaniard is capable of lining out on either flank, or even in a more inverted central role when required.

This past season, his ‘spectacular’ exploits in the academy setup of Leganés proved enough to pique the attentions of a whole host of top clubs.

At the very front of the queue were Real Madrid, who are understood to have been desperate to bring Mendoza back, after releasing the teen earlier in his fledgling career.

As alluded to above, however, Los Blancos, in the end, have missed out.

Not only that, but they have been beaten to the punch by none other than arch rivals Barcelona.

As per Sport:

‘Barça has moved with skill, has gotten ahead of Real Madrid and has tied down a player with spectacular class.’

Mendoza has already made the trip to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper offices to make his transfer a formality, all set to link up with La Masia beginning next season.
