Barcelona boost? Liverpool now ‘confident’ of imminent deal for Florian Wirtz | OneFootball

The latest word surrounding Premier League champions Liverpool to have surfaced in the media on Friday will no doubt be met with intrigue on the part of those behind the scenes at Barcelona.

This comes amid confirmation that the Reds have now positioned themselves firmly at the front of the queue to sign Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz.

As per a report from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:

‘Liverpool are confident to get Florian Wirtz deal done after fresh contacts in last 24/48 hours. Talks ongoing to get final green light but LFC are now favorites ahead of Bayern in the race for German gem.’

So, why does this mark a significant development for Barcelona?

According to reports in the Spanish press, despite the pair playing in different positions, Wirtz’s arrival at Anfield is likely to open the door to a departure for Luis Díaz.

The latter, for his part, is a priority signing for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona this summer, a deal which could well move a step closer in the case of Liverpool landing Wirtz over the weeks ahead.
