La Liga giants Barcelona look increasingly likely to miss out on a leading transfer target to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Diogo Costa as the player in question.

The name of goalkeeper Costa has returned to the forefront of the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last couple of weeks.

As much comes amid mounting claims that the Barcelona brass have set their sights firmly on the signature of the Porto star.

Amid an ongoing search for a long-term replacement for the sidelined Marc-André ter Stegen, Costa has been earmarked by Deco and co. as the ideal target.

Safe to say, then, that it will come as a blow to the Blaugrana to hear that Portugal’s no.1 appears to be inching towards a move to England.

As per the aforementioned Sport, citing both Caught Offside and sources in Portugal:

‘Manchester City have already started working to try to move forward with the operation. The English club’s idea is to get rid of Ederson, whose contract expires in 2026, and acquire the Portuguese in the next summer market.’

It now remains to be seen if Barca can beat out the offer put on the table by the money-laden Sky Blues…
