Midway through the 2025-26 season, Barcelona returned to their permanent home, the Spotify Camp Nou, after partial renovation of the stadium was completed.
It was a massive boost for the club, both from a financial and football perspective, with the club enjoying a perfect record at the stadium in La Liga since the relocation.
Now, according to Diari ARA, Barcelona could begin the 2027-28 season at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, better known as the Montjuic stadium.
At that point, the Camp Nou will reach an important phase in its renovation as the roof is set to be installed next summer.

Barcelona have reserved Montjuic from the start of the 2027-28 campaign until December as a contingency plan for the same.
The club expect the roof installation to extend into the opening months of the season, making it impractical to host matches at the Camp Nou during that period.
Barcelona are no strangers to playing at Montjuic, having used the stadium as their temporary home for close to two and a half years during the Camp Nou’s first stage of renovation.
The move would represent another short-term extension to the club’s stay at Montjuic, even as the long-awaited redevelopment project moves closer to completion.
Although the supporters would love and prefer the team to play at the Camp Nou, this is a small inconvenience the club would need to bear for a better future.

The roof is one of the final and most significant stages of the renovation, and once that is done, Barcelona will have one of the most state-of-the-art stadiums in European football.
For the players, another few months at Montjuic would not be ideal, but the squad have already shown they can compete successfully there.
Barcelona have submitted bids to host the 2029 Champions League final and the 2030 FIFA World Cup final.
The club will need renovation timelines to go exactly according to plan to ensure that they are in perfect shape should they get the nod for the two marquee events.
Right now, in the short term, Barça are set to play their entire 2026-27 campaign at the Spotify Camp Nou, and let us hope it turns out to be a memorable one.
