Paris Saint-Germain strengthened their midfield this past summer with the addition of João Neves. Alongside Vitinha and Warren Zaïre-Emery, the former SL Benfica player adds depth, but could manager Luis Enrique be eyeing another young midfielder?

Fabián Ruiz’s future at PSG is increasingly uncertain. While he excels with Spain’s national team, he hasn’t been able to replicate that success at the club level, leading to growing speculation about his next move.

According to Fichajes, PSG, Liverpool, and Arsenal are now targeting Fermín López. His standout performances with Barcelona and his key role in Spain’s gold medal victory at the Paris 2024 Olympics have drawn attention from top clubs across Europe.

With his talent, it’s no wonder these three giants are keen to secure him in the upcoming summer transfer window. Although López is contracted with Barcelona until 2027, his future at the club could change if an offer exceeding €80 million comes their way.

Despite the interest from two Premier League clubs and PSG, the Spanish side have nothing to worry about now.

ESPN reported that Barcelona has rewarded Fermín López for his impressive early-season performances with a new contract, extending his stay at the club until 2029. The deal also features a hefty release clause of €500 million ($544.4 million).

López developed through the renowned La Masia academy and had a loan stint at Linares before getting promoted to the first team under former coach Xavi Hernandez.

In the 2023-24 season, he played 42 matches and scored 11 goals. His strong performances last season secured him a place on Spain’s Euro 2024 championship-winning team, although he didn’t get much playing time.

However, he made a significant impact at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where Spain triumphed over hosts France to win the gold medal in the under-23 competition. If PSG wanted to lure another Barcelona player to Paris, they’ll need to cross off López off their list.
