FC Barcelona are prioritising the signing of a new centre-forward in the summer transfer window.

With Robert Lewandowski’s future still undecided and Ferran Torres’ form declining, a new No. 9 has become a necessary addition for the Blaugrana.

Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, thus, has emerged as a priority target for Barcelona. However, a move for the Argentine will be anything but easy as Los Rojiblancos do not wish to sell him to a direct rival.

As such, Deco & co. need to keep an eye out for alternatives, one of whom happens to be TSG 1899 Hoffenheim forward Fisnik Asllani.

Barcelona keeping close tabs

Indeed, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Barcelona are one of the clubs closely monitoring Asllani heading into the summer.

Indeed, the La Liga champions are fully informed about the 23-year-old Kosovo international’s contract situation and release clause value.

Asllani has had a decent season so far, producing a return of nine goals and eight assists from 28 appearances in all competitions for Hoffenheim, where he has a contract until 2029.

However, Asllani has already gone public about his dream of playing for Barcelona.

“My dream club have always been FC Barcelona. I’ve always wanted to play there,” he had said in an interview in 2025.

Moreover, Asllani’s agent also confirmed earlier today that Barcelona are indeed interested and have held talks with him about a potential transfer in the summer.

“Barcelona’s interest in the player is valid at this moment, and there has been contact from the Catalan club,” Asllani’s agent Ayman Dahmani said.

With Barcelona fully informed about the 23-year-old striker, it remains to be seen how things evolve in the coming months. Much will likely depend on how the Catalans’ pursuit of Julian Alvarez pans out.
