There are several FC Barcelona players whose contracts are running out in the next one and a half years, and the Catalans are clear that either these players will renew their contracts before the end of this season or they will be put on the market in the next summer transfer window to avoid the possibility of them leaving for free.

The Blaugranes are already engaged in negotiations for the renewals of some of these players, but Ronald Araújo is one big name with whom negotiations are not going very smoothly. The player himself recently admitted that he has not yet arrived at an agreement with Barcelona for a renewal.

In such a scenario, his future at the Catalan club has become very uncertain. In fact, he has been linked very strongly with a move away, with Juventus emerging as a strong contender for his signing.

In fact, the Italian journal La Repubblica (h/t Bianconera News) has reported that the Old Lady of Italian football has already reached an agreement with Barcelona for a loan with a mandatory purchase option and also has Araujo’s approval for such a move.

The report further claimed that the defender is going to undertake his medical with the Italian club next week, after which he will sign his contract with Juventus.

However, the Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has denied the veracity of these reports. He claims that Barcelona sources have told him that they have not yet reached any agreement with Juventus for the defender.

Meanwhile, he also claims that the Blaugrana club admits that there have been communications open with Juventus for this purpose, and some other clubs have also asked about the €55m-rated Uruguayan defender. However, they have not yet made a final decision in this regard.

Furthermore, Romero also claims that an Italian journalist, Giacomo Iacobellis, has also revealed the denial of these reports by Juventus. The Italian club is clear that such an event has not taken place yet.

Thus, amid these conflicting reports, it remains to be seen how Araújo’s future pans out. He did not play even a minute in the last game against Athletic Club, and hopefully, his future will be sorted out as soon as possible to bring more certainty for all the involved parties.
