As already reported, FC Barcelona are finalising an imminent, high-profile opening transfer offer to sign Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.
While the official proposal has not yet been formally presented to the Madrid club’s hierarchy, the Catalans’ sporting department is moving rapidly behind the scenes to secure the Argentine international as their definitive marquee signing for the upcoming campaign.
And, now according to RAC1, Barcelona currently possess the absolute financial capacity to spend up to €120 million on Alvarez without encountering any regulatory issues.
The Blaugrana had their hands tied by La Liga’s Financial Fair Play situation for a number of years now, restricting their spending ability in the market.

However, with the club expected to be back to the 1:1 Fair Play rule this summer, there seems to be enough room for the La Liga champions to make two or three marquee signings.
Barça have already agreed a deal worth €70 million plus €10 million in add-ons for Anthony Gordon, who will sign a five-year contract.
Beyond that, they would still have the economic capability to spend up to €120 million on Alvarez without any issues on the Fair Play front.
However, Barcelona have set a strict financial ceiling of €100 million for the total transfer fee allocated to secure Alvarez’s services.

The club’s leadership is determined not to exceed this self-imposed boundary, ensuring that the package remains completely structured within a realistic economic framework that protects the club’s long-term interests.
By keeping their proposal strictly at the €100 million mark, the Barcelona board leaves themselves an extra €20 million cushion in financial breathing room.
Atletico Madrid, however, are holding out for a fee of €150 million for their ace goalscorer, complicating negotiations.
