A recent report from Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Julian Alvarez after the Argentine striker recently made a comment that has raised questions about his future at Atletico Madrid.

Within the Barcelona offices, the striker’s message has been noticed and appreciated.

In fact, club figures see it as a gesture that keeps the possibility of a future move open. However, that does not mean Barcelona are preparing to launch a major transfer push for him this summer.

The Blaugrana admire Alvarez for several reasons. To begin with, the sporting department values his quality, work rate, and ability to play in multiple attacking roles.

Even so, the club’s leadership will not rush into any decisions.

Alvarez’s comment sparks fresh speculation

The situation gained attention after Atletico recorded a 5-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur.

Following the game, the Argentine forward spoke to the reporters. During the interview, he was asked directly about his future and whether he could guarantee he would remain with Atlético next season.

Instead of offering a clear answer, the striker responded in a way that has since created plenty of discussion.

“How should I know? I don’t know, maybe yes, maybe no, you never know. But I’m very happy here,” he said.

Those words immediately sparked debate because Alvarez is currently under contract with Atletico until 2030.

Despite that long deal, the phrase “maybe yes, maybe no” has reopened the conversation about what might happen in the future.

Barcelona keeping a close watch

Barcelona are aware of the comments and are monitoring the situation carefully

The club understands that their squad will soon need a long-term solution at centre forward, especially with Robert Lewandowski approaching the final stage of his Barcelona career.

However, the Catalan club is also working under strict financial guidelines.

Even if Barcelona manage to return to La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule, the club is not planning to spend unlimited amounts in the market.

According to the report, Barcelona do not want to exceed €100 million, including both fixed and variable payments, for a new centre forward.

That means any potential deal for Alvarez would depend on several factors.

Ultimately, the player himself would likely need to push for a move, and the final transfer price would have to stay within the club’s financial limits.
