The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have come to a definitive decision when it comes to the potential return of youngster Nico González to the club.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have confirmed that the plan remains for the midfielder to stay put on the books of Porto.
Nico, for his part, is in the midst of nothing short of a brilliant start to the new campaign on the books of Portuguese heavyweights Porto.
Now considered one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Vítor Bruno, the Spaniard has racked up 24 appearances across all competitions.
And, along the way, Nico has chipped in with an impressive five goals and five assists.
Such exploits have given rise to chatter in the Spanish media that Barcelona, after allowing the 22-year-old to depart on a permanent basis in the summer of 2023, could seek to activate their €30 million buy-back option.
As alluded to above, however, this will not prove to be the case.
As confirmed by Sport, instead, the Blaugrana intend to allow Nico to stay put in Portugal, with the hope of another leading club – both Liverpool and Aston Villa are interested – buying the midfielder outright.
This comes with Barca entitled to a 40% cut of any future sale.
