Barcelona make Ferran Torres stance clear amid PSG interest | OneFootball

FC Barcelona have no intention of pushing Ferran Torres towards the exit and believe any desire to leave must come directly from the player.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the club have received no formal communication from Ferran, his representatives or Paris Saint-Germain, despite reported admiration from Luis Enrique.

The 26-year-old remains on holiday after scoring the decisive goal in Spain’s World Cup final victory over Argentina and is not expected back at the Ciutat Esportiva until August 10.

Barca view him as an important part of Hansi Flick’s squad and are planning contract talks once the summer transfer window closes. His current deal runs until 2027, with the club aiming to discuss an extension in September for financial fair play reasons.

A renewal would trigger an €8 million payment to Manchester City under the terms of his 2022 transfer, but that has not changed Barcelona’s position.

Ferran is coming off his strongest season at the club, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances. He also delivered in important matches, including the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, where his goal forced extra time.

The decision now belongs to the player

Barcelona’s stance is sensible. They do not need to create a transfer problem where none officially exists, especially with Ferran proving he can contribute as both a starter and a reliable option from the bench.

His versatility remains valuable. He can play through the middle or from either wing, and his movement inside the penalty area gives Flick a different attacking profile from the club’s more natural dribblers.

At the same time, Ferran must be realistic about the increased competition following the arrivals of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, with Barcelona also hoping to add a new centre-forward.

That could affect his minutes, but it does not mean the club want him gone. If PSG or another side genuinely interests him, the first move must come from Ferran himself.
