Barcelona monitoring former defender Sergi Dominguez amid transfer interest | OneFootball

FC Barcelona recently officially returned to the 1:1 rule, which would allow them to spend all of their money earned from sales to be spent on new signings. This development is going to be crucial as they would be looking to reinforce their team significantly ahead of the next season.

However, they will first have to generate the income to spend, and for this purpose, they are looking to completing the sales of some of their current players, including the midfielder Marc Casado.

Meanwhile, another avenue from which they can obtain some income is the sale of some of their former players on whom they still have some rights. In this regard, Mundo Deportivo reports that they are keeping a close eye on Sergi Dominguez, on whom they have the right to obtain 20% of transfer fee paid for any future transfer.

The Blaugranes sold the young player to Dinamo Zagreb for €1.2 million, and kept this right. But now, he has several options that he is considering that can end up in him leaving the Croatian club, which means some money could land in the Barcelona coffers as well.

In fact, he has already rejected one such offer, from Saudi Arabia, despite its very lucrative terms. Similarly, he is also enjoying interest from the Serie A side Lazio, but this interest has not yet materialized into a solid offer. He has also been linked with the Premier League side Tottenham, but there has been no contact for some time, and this avenue also seems to be closed for now.

Before that, during the winter transfer window, he also enjoyed some interest from the Netherlands, but there was no significant progress on that operation either. For now Sergi Dominguez is happy at Dinamo Zagreb, so he would not mind too much even if a move does not materialize, but Barcelona would be hoping a move takes place so they can earn something from their former player.
