Tensions between Barcelona & Real Madrid continue to escalate after last Sunday’s El Clasico.

Lluis Carrasco campaign director for Barca president Joan Laporta has publicly condemned Dani Carvajal for what he called "disgusting and unsporting behaviour" toward Lamine Yamal at the end of the match.

Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu ending run of 4 consecutive defeats to their Catalan rivals.

Yet, pos match scenes again stole the spotlight: Carvajal clashed with 18 year old Yamal whose pre game comments accusing Madrid of "theft & corruption" had already angered the Spanish champions.

Speaking to Marca, Carrasco didn't hold back:

"I won’t call Carvajal thug because I don’t know him personally but in El Clasico he behaved like one, I won’t say he’s evil person but on Sunday he acted in an evil way" he said.

Carrasco went on to criticise the Real Madrid captain’s leadership qualities arguing that he showed "no trace of captaincy spirit".

"He acted like a boy from the street when he sees his rival hurt, he steps on his head so that people applaud him. It’s disgusting" Carrasco added.

Gaspart joins the criticism

During the same forum, former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart (2000/2003) also mocked the Madrid defender:

“Who is Carvajal? I’ve barely heard of him. You , the media , make him sound important. He’s finished. I don’t doubt he was once good player but nothing more”

The fallout follows days of tension between both clubs after Yamal’s controversial remarks before the game.

What was expected to be sporting contest has now turned into media and political battle deepening the divide between Spain’s 2 football giant.
