FC Barcelona are preparing an improved second proposal for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, following the rejection of their opening bid for the German international.

According to journalist Patrick Berger of Sky Germany, the Catalan giants are refusing to give up on Hansi Flick’s desired target and remain in active club-to-club negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit.

New offer being prepared

As per the journalist, the package currently being assembled by Barcelona’s sporting department is structured at a guaranteed €20 million fixed fee, plus an additional €10 million in performance-related bonuses.

In a bid to unlock a total breakthrough with Dortmund, Barcelona are specifically modifying the bonus clauses after their previous offer of a similar value was knocked back by the Bundesliga heavyweights.

The new proposal could contain a simplified add-on system, making the milestones significantly easier for the player to achieve and thus offering Dortmund a more reliable route to pocketing the full value of the deal.

Will not spend beyond €30 million

Despite restructuring the variables to appease the German club, Barcelona’s board maintains a rigid stance on the overall valuation.

The club hierarchy has explicitly communicated that they are entirely unwilling to exceed a cumulative total of €30 million for the transfer.

This firm financial ceiling is dictated by the winger’s contractual situation, after all his current deal expires in 2027.

With Adeyemi entering the final year of his contract at Signal Iduna Park and making it clear he will not renew, Dortmund face the looming reality of losing him for free if a compromise is not reached this summer.

Contract agreement secured

While the two clubs iron out the final fee, Barcelona hold significant leverage, having already finalised a full agreement with Adeyemi over personal terms.

The dynamic 24-year-old forward has already committed to a five-year contract to the Blaugrana, committing his future at the Spotify Camp Nou.

Adeyemi has never been shy of admitting his admiration for Barcelona and appears highly enthusiastic about the project under Flick, who previously handed him his senior international debut with Germany.

The move is now only a matter of the two clubs reaching a satisfactory agreement over the transfer fee.
