Barcelona president addresses rumours linking 26-year-old forward to PSG – “I’ve heard some of those reports” | OneFootball

It is no secret anymore that FC Barcelona are working on strengthening their attack for next season. Despite already possessing some of Europe’s most elite forwards, it seems that the club and Hansi Flick wish to strengthen that aspect of their team even further.

However, with players like Karim Adeyemi joining the club this summer and Anthony Gordon already having been revealed as an official player, there is likely going to be a lot of competition for minutes next season. Moreover, it seems to have nudged certain players towards looking for a way out as well.

Ferran Torres, aged 26, is currently heavily linked to a move to French club Paris Saint-Germain. With rumours and news spiralling all around at the moment, Barcelona president Joan Laporta was asked about the situation as well regarding the player’s future and current links to PSG.

As quoted by Mundo Deportivo, however, Laporta seems to be dismissing many of the reports for now and simply claimed that nothing concrete is there yet:

“I’ve heard some of those reports, but we have nothing concrete. He’s a Barcelona player and one of the 14 Barça players involved in the World Cup.”

He also commented on the forward’s performances for Spain so far at the ongoing FIFA World Cup, and highlighted his assist to Mikel Merino for the team’s winning goal against Portugal as well:

“Ferran has also been performing very well. Every time he comes on, he creates danger. He provided that excellent assist for Merino. We have a lot of outstanding players at this tournament, which is another reason I’m here.”
