It is no secret that La Liga has been in an attempt to improve the reach of Spanish football in recent years.
In line with the same objective, the league proposed to shift Barcelona’s game against Atletico Madrid scheduled at Montjuic to the United States of America. The Hard Rock Stadium in Miami has been identified as a potential destination.
While the idea of shifting a league game overseas was met with resistance in the past, improved relations between Barcelona and La Liga now work in favour of the proposal.
The Catalans, however, have a condition as revealed by Catalunya Radio.
For starters, Barcelona are willing to play their all-important game against Los Rojiblancos in Miami without the home support. Such a sacrifice, however, demands an equal price.
The Catalans thus demand that they receive financial compensation, especially because they will be losing out in terms of stadium revenue from ticket sales for the game.

In addition to the economic compensation, La Liga will likely provide special flights for fans who wish to travel to Miami to watch the game with a larger number of flights preserved for Barcelona fans so as to maintain the home advantage.
Barcelona’s relations with La Liga president Javier Tebas have improved in recent years and the club thus support the league in the bid to popularise the brand.
In exchange, however, they demand some flexibility in terms of financial fair play.
As revealed earlier this week, Barcelona could pocket as much as €6 million if the clash is moved to the US which is massive for the club especially given their struggles to get Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen registered for the second half of the season.
