La Liga giants Barcelona on Tuesday secured for themselves a piece of European football history.

This came owing to the efforts of the Blaugrana in the club’s showdown with Portuguese heavyweights Benfica.

Hansi Flick’s Barca of course made the trip to Lisbon on Tuesday evening, for a highly-anticipated Champions League clash.

When all was said and done, one of the most memorable outings in the recent history of the competition played out, with the visitors having emerged on the right side of a nine-goal thriller.

This, though, only came owing to a spectacular late comeback.

After slipping into a two-goal hole late on at the Estádio da Luz, the trio of Robert Lewandowski, Eric García and Raphinha found the net, to guide Barcelona to a 5-4 triumph.

And, as alluded to above, owing to such endeavours, the Catalans made history.

As per statistician MisterChip:

‘Barcelona are the FIRST VISITING TEAM to reach the 75th minute with a 2-goal deficit and end up winning the match, in the ENTIRE history of the UEFA Champions League.’
