With the transfer window entering its final month, FC Barcelona still have significant work to do in trimming Hansi Flick’s squad.

Among the unresolved cases is Roony Bardghji, whose future remains uncertain despite attracting strong interest from across Europe.

Although the Swedish winger once again showcased his direct attacking style during the pre-season friendly against Birmingham City, his departure has stalled because the player and the club have different priorities.

Indeed, according to SPORT, Barcelona would prefer to sell Bardghji while retaining long-term control through a buy-back clause. The player, however, wants to leave on loan with the aim of returning to the club next season.

As such, the Catalans are expected to hold fresh talks with Bardghji and his representatives next week in an effort to break the deadlock and agree on the best path forward.

Subsequent transfer activity has only reinforced that message.

The club has strengthened the wide positions with the arrivals of Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, and most recently Jesse Bisiwu, who is expected to train regularly with the first team.

Bisiwu’s arrival, in particular, has increased the urgency surrounding Bardghji’s situation, as Flick wants to work exclusively with the players who will form part of his plans for the new season.

Plenty of interest across Europe

There is no shortage of clubs interested in signing the Swedish winger. Marseille have emerged as one of the strongest contenders in recent days, while Porto, Ajax, Brighton, and several Premier League clubs have all made enquiries.

Spanish clubs have also expressed interest in taking Bardghji on loan.

For the player, regular first-team football remains the priority above everything else, and the opportunity to play European football could also influence his final decision.

Crucial meeting expected

As mentioned previously, the Blaugrana will soon hold a decisive meeting with Bardghji and his camp to decide on the best way forward for the youngster.

The La Liga champions value the winger at more than €15 million and believe there is a strong possibility of securing a profitable transfer.

Despite planning for his departure, Barcelona have not lost faith in Bardghji’s future.

The sporting department remains convinced that the Swede has the talent to become an important player at the highest level, which is precisely why the club are reluctant to sanction a simple loan.

Instead, Barcelona want a permanent transfer that includes a buy-back clause, ensuring they retain the option to bring him back if his development continues as expected.

Ultimately, however, the move will depend on Bardghji agreeing to that structure. The coming days could prove decisive as both sides attempt to find a compromise that satisfies everyone involved.
