Barcelona star admits the Premier League is ‘without a doubt’ the best in the world | OneFootball

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has this week revealed his opinion that the Premier League is, at present, some way ahead of La Liga when it comes to overall quality.

This of course comes with the Dutchman having turned down the opportunity to take his talents to England on several occasions in the past.

De Jong was previously a target for some of the Premier League’s leading clubs, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

The former Ajax man, however, repeatedly made clear that his only intention was to succeed in the colours of Barcelona.

Speaking during an interview with ESPN, as cited by Diario Sport this week, De Jong was therefore asked if he feels any remaining desire to make the move to England’s top-flight.

And though he was quick to shut down any such suggestions, the 28-year-old also admitted that the Premier League, as of this moment, is comfortably Europe’s standout division:

“Do I need to go to the Premier League to show my level? I don’t think so. There have been offers, but I’m happy at Barça. The Premier League is the best league in the world right now, without a doubt, just as La Liga was about ten years ago. But that doesn’t mean you have to play there to prove that you’re a great player.”
