Barcelona star full of praise for Lionel Messi following age-defying World Cup performances | OneFootball

FC Barcelona continue to have a dominant presence at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. With several of the club’s players still active and impressing at the tournament, this is a great development for La Blaugrana as they get to see their stars shine on the biggest stage of them all.

Yet, the star that shines brighter than everyone else also happens to be a former Barça man himself. Lionel Messi, the defending World Cup champion and now the all-time leading goal-scorer in the competition as well, continues to haunt each team that he faces.

His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed by the world of football, and certainly not by the players either. In fact, as quoted by MARCA, Barcelona star Pedri also spoke about the Argentinian great prior to Spain’s clash against Uruguay:

“I was lucky enough to play and train with Messi and I enjoyed it a lot. I learned so much from him, and now I enjoy watching him even more.”

He further elaborated just how impressive Messi’s quality is, and having played with him in the past, the Spaniard was able to explain it in detail as well:

Now 39 years old, the Argentina and Barcelona legend was sent some heartwarming birthday wishes from the club and Deco as well. Despite his age, the South American star continues to exceed all expectations and lead the way at the FIFA World Cup.

As for Spain, they were fortunately able to get the better of Uruguay but it was hardly an easy affair
