Barcelona star Pedri sits ahead of all other players at this summer’s World Cup when it comes to one statistical category.

Midfielder Pedri has of course found himself as the subject of rare criticism across Spain’s World Cup campaign in North America to date.

Looking uncharacteristically sluggish and at times downright sloppy in possession, the 23-year-old has in turn been forced to make do with a place on the bench in each of La Roja’s last two outings.

Such woes, however, have not stopped Pedri from making his presence known on the defensive side of the ball at the tournament.

In fact, as revealed by statisticians WhoScored:

‘Pedri has won possession back in the attacking third more times (10) than any other player at the 2026 World Cup.’

The Barcelona man will no doubt be hopeful that such endeavours culminate in a return to starting duties for this weekend’s World Cup finale showdown between Spain and Argentina in New York.
