Barcelona star reveals admiration for Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk: ‘I pay a lot of attention to him’ | OneFootball

Barcelona youngster Pau Cubarsí has this week opened up on his admiration for Liverpool counterpart Virgil van Dijk.

Cubarsí, of course, has spent the season to date continuing to make a name for himself as arguably football’s very best up-and-coming defender.

Despite his tender years, the 18-year-old is considered one of the first names on the team sheet of Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, also a fully established Spanish international.

And yet, Cubarsí still has massive room for growth, from both a physical and mental standpoint.

In turn, the starlet has long been keeping a close eye on one of the game’s standout stoppers, in the form of Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport this week, Cubarsí was asked if he draws inspiration from fellow central defenders across the continent.

And the Spaniard went on to admit:

“Yes, I love watching the Premier League and I admire Van Dijk. He has amazing physical strength and defence. He’s also a great leader. I pay a lot of attention to him.”
