A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has picked up a fresh fitness setback.
This comes amid confirmation that Raphinha has reinjured the hamstring which caused the winger problems at club level this past season.
Raphinha was for his part in from the off in the early hours of Saturday, as Brazil locked horns with minnows Haiti in a World Cup group stage clash.
En route to an eventual 3-0 triumph for his country, however, the former Leeds United man was forced into a premature departure from proceedings.
After going to ground clutching his right leg, it quickly became clear that Raphinha was in no condition to continue, replaced by Rayan late in the first-half as a result.
The Brazilian medical team, meanwhile, have since released a statement, confirming the following:
‘The attacker felt pain in the hamstring of his right thigh during the first half of the match against Haiti. The player has already begun treatment and will be re-evaluated.’
It now remains to be seen if Raphinha is set to miss any of the Seleção’s upcoming fixtures at the World Cup.
