Barcelona star to be left out of national team squad | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants will not be called up for the October international break.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.

Stopper Araújo has for his part long acted as a key figure for his native Uruguay.

As much comes despite the stopper’s hit-and-miss form at club level with the aforementioned Barcelona.

As alluded to above, though, this time round, Araújo is not expected to be called upon by Uruguay boss Marcelo Bielsa, for an upcoming pair of fixtures against the Dominican Republic and Uzbekistan.

As per a report from Sport:

‘The Blaugrana centre-back will save himself the long trip to Asia and will be able to stay two weeks in Barcelona to rest and arrive in the best possible condition for the return to activity of the Barça team.’

This follows news of fellow Blaugrana stars Lamine Yamal and Marc Bernal also dropping their respective commitments with the Spanish senior and U21 squads.
