Barcelona have taken a huge step forward in their dream of returning home to the Spotify Camp Nou.

According to RAC1, the club has now received the final construction certificate for phase 1A of the stadium redevelopment.

This crucial development means that Barça are closer than ever to reopening their iconic home, with the final decision now hinging on tomorrow’s scheduled council visit.

Uncertainty looms for Barcelona

For weeks, uncertainty surrounded the venue for Barcelona’s September fixture against Valencia.

The club had been caught in a race against time, as today marked the deadline for issuing the certificate of completion (CFO) for the first phase of the works.

Without this approval, Barça would have been forced into a difficult situation.

With Montjuic unavailable on 12 September due to a Post Malone concert, the board was even considering a backup plan of contacting Girona to play at Montilivi – an option far from ideal for Joan Laporta.

The certificate, however, changes everything. While it does not guarantee that the stadium will open its doors immediately, it provides the necessary foundation for tomorrow’s inspection, which will be decisive.

All eyes on tomorrow’s visit

If the visit confirms that all safety and structural requirements are met, Barcelona could officially reopen the stadium on 14 September against Valencia.

This milestone carries huge significance beyond the pitch. A return to Camp Nou would not only mark the end of a long exile at Montjuic but also symbolise progress in the club’s ambitious stadium project.

For the fans, it would mean going back to their true home, even if only a part of the stadium is currently ready.

Now, all eyes turn to tomorrow. A positive report from the council could finally bring the dream of stepping back into the Spotify Camp Nou much closer to reality.
