Robert Lewandowski was one of the star performers for Barcelona as they secured a 2-0 win over Espanyol to start 2026.

The Polish international scored a crucial goal late in the game to double Barça’s lead, effectively leaving Espanyol with hopes for a late comeback after Dani Olmo had initially scored a late opener.

Thanks to the goal, Lewandowski’s tally for the season stands at nine, with the forward moving ever so closer to reaching Barcelona’s top ten goalscorers of all-time, a list that includes legends like Lionel Messi, Rivaldo and Luis Suarez.

Only ten goals away from entering top 10

Indeed, Lewandowski’s tally as a Barcelona player reached 110 goals, meaning the forward has now equalled Estanislao Basora’s tally in the club’s all-time goalscorers’ list.

That means Lewandowski is currently 12th in Barcelona’s all-time list, and is only ten goals away from entering the top ten and matching the tally of Josep Escola (120 goals).

In doing so, the Pole will also overtake Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov, who had scored 117 goals for the club.

In fact, Lewandowski can realistically become Barcelona’s fifth-highest goal scorer of all time if he enjoys a stellar second half of the season.

That is because the Pole, provided he reaches 120 goals for the season, will be only two goals away from equalling eighth and ninth placed Patrick Kluivert and Carles Rexach.

From this point onwards, with 110 goals scored, he has to score 20 more goals to beat Mariano Martin (7th with 129 goals) and equal Samuel Eto’o and Rivaldo (5th and 6th with 130 goals). From then on, the task becomes more difficult, with the fifth-placed

Scoring 20 goals during the second half of the season is not an easy feat, especially at the age of 37.

But if Lewandowski can get his groove back and becomes the undisputed number nine once again, he has a solid chance of at least getting close, especially if Barça can reach the finals of every competition.
