There is a growing sense of uncertainty surrounding Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona.
A player who arrived as the undisputed focal point of the attack now finds himself at a crossroads, with his contract nearing its end and no clear decision made about what comes next.
It must be noted that Barcelona have already begun exploring the market for a potential successor, which is a clear indication that they are preparing for every scenario.
At the same time, Lewandowski himself appears in no rush to commit either way.
While on international duty with Poland, the striker was inevitably asked about his future, and his response was not at all different from what he has said in the past.
Offering an update, he said, “Regarding my future at Barcelona, what I said hasn’t changed. I’m taking my time to decide what’s best for me. I haven’t made any decision.”
Apart from the contract situation, Lewandowski is also dealing with a more immediate challenge, playing through discomfort.
Following a knock he sustained against Villarreal, the forward has been forced to wear a protective mask, something that has clearly affected him in recent matches.
Explaining the difficulties he has faced, he said, “Playing with a mask, especially on my head, isn’t comfortable.
“As a striker, I rely heavily on my vision, and the mask is right next to my eye.
“In the last few days, I’ve shortened it even more, down to where the broken bone is, and I’ve lengthened the rest, which has helped a little.

“But I still have to play with this mask for two more weeks. After lengthening it, it’s better. As for headers, I’m not afraid anymore,” he explained to the media.
Another subtle shift has also taken place within the team, one that perhaps says a lot about his current situation.
Lewandowski, once the undisputed first-choice penalty taker, has recently stepped aside, with players like Raphinha and Lamine Yamal taking responsibility from the spot.
Addressing this change, Lewandowski offered a candid explanation, acknowledging the role confidence plays in such decisions.
“It’s obvious that sometimes, when you lack confidence, there’s a moment of hesitation and decisions are made on the field. There are players who take penalties well.
“I’m ready, but when you feel like you’re lacking minutes, confidence, feel, and rhythm, it’s better to choose the best option for the team.
“And whoever feels best ends up being the one who takes the penalties.”
His future with the Polish national team is also not fully defined. At 37, he remains a key figure, but even there, long-term decisions are yet to be made.
Speaking about his international future, he admitted, “I’m not going to make any decisions; I’m not ready to make any.
“I still don’t know; it probably won’t happen soon. When I know it’s the right time, I’ll probably tell you. Right now, I don’t have that feeling,” he concluded.
