Newcastle United welcomed Barcelona at St. James’ Park earlier tonight as they hoped to earn a good result at home in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie. The Magpies made a solid start to the game and managed to get to the half-time break with a goalless scoreline.

Harvey Barnes finally broke the deadlock in the 86th minute, but Lamine Yamal equalised for Barca from the penalty spot deep inside injury time. The match ended with Eddie Howe’s players securing a hard-fought 1-1 draw in front of their home fans.

RB: Kieran Trippier – 6.5/10

He performed his defensive duties well but offered very little going forward.

CB: Malick Thiaw – 6/10

He was a rock at the back, but would be disappointed after conceding such a late goal.
