Thierno Barry's second-half goal cancelled out James Justin's opener as the points were shared between Everton and Leeds United.

After a slow start at the Hill Dickinson the visitors took the lead with just under a half an hour gone. Joe Rodon won the aerial duel to set his side going, which led to Anton Stach putting a low cross that found James Justin at the far post to make it 1-0.

From that point on Leeds found their groove and almost made it 2-0 shortly after Jayden Bogle's cross from the left found Dominic Calvert-Lewin. However, the former Everton man could only hit the post from four yards out.

David Moyes looked a frustrated figure at half-time with his team sent back to the dressing room with the sound of boos from the home fans.

Indeed, the Everton boss made two changes at the break with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on to provide some much-needed creativity and a return to action for Jarrad Branthwaite for his first appearance since May 2025.

The Toffees improved with those changes with Seb Bornauw needing to make an important block to deny Iliman Ndiaye who had cut onto his left foot.

Everton looked to be getting closer as Karl Darlow needed to be called into action to get his fingertips to keep out Thierno Barry's trivela effort.

The equaliser eventually came in the 76th minute as Idrissa Gueye put in a low ball from the right that Barry was the first to as the forward diverted the ball past Darlow.

It was almost 2-1 to the home side immediately after with Gueye this time smashing a shot off the crossbar.

Both sides had opportunities to take all three points but in the end a draw was probably a fair result with Leeds the better in the first half and Everton much improved in the second.

That result means Everton finish this round in 10th with a point putting them ahead of Sunderland. Leeds meanwhile are in 16th, six points above the relegation zone.
