Bayern challenges UEFA suspension of Luis Díaz
Bayern Munich has voiced its displeasure with UEFA's decision to hand Luis Díaz a three-match Champions League suspension. The German club has announced it will appeal the ruling.
The punishment comes after Díaz's harsh tackle on Achraf Hakimi during the match against PSG, which resulted in a serious ankle injury for the Moroccan defender. While the incident is acknowledged as severe, Bayern’s management believes the three-match ban is excessive. "We thought he would be suspended for just one match. If we can get it reduced to two, that would already be something," said Max Eberl. "It was a tough tackle, but not an act of violence," added Jan-Christian Dreesen.
If the ban is upheld, Díaz will miss the matches against Arsenal, Sporting CP, and Royal Union Saint-Gilloise.
