According to consistent media reports, FC Bayern are intensively involved with Hertha prodigy Kennet Eichhorn – and the interest is no coincidence. Since his historic performance on Tuesday evening, the 16-year-old’s name has been in the spotlight everywhere.
Eichhorn scored in Berlin’s 6:1 thumping victory in the DFB Cup round of 16 against 1. FC Kaiserslautern to make it 3:0 and set a record that caused a stir across Europe: at 16 years and 128 days, he is now the youngest goalscorer in the history of the cup competition, replacing none other than Jude Bellingham, who scored for Borussia Dortmund in 2020 at the age of 17 years and 77 days.
Eichhorn is no stranger to Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and Frankfurt. The top clubs‘ scouts have been keeping an eye on the talented youngster for months, but now it seems that the heavyweights are also getting involved: Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, PSG and Manchester United are said to be keeping a close eye on the Hertha youngster. It is likely that the competition for his signature will turn into a European bidding war next summer.

Eichhorn is contractually tied to Hertha for the long term until 2029, but according to Sky, there is an exit clause in the region of ten to twelve million euros from summer 2026 – depending on the league and the buyer. A sum that already seems like a bargain given the interest from Europe’s elite.
According to information from BILD, the capital city club is planning to extend the contract with its home-grown talent ahead of time – with a substantial salary increase and a significantly higher clause. The second division club could be looking at up to 20 million euros, a sum that far exceeds the current market value of around six million euros and sends a clear signal to the competition: Berlin does not want to let its jewel go without a fight.
Eichhorn is clearly a player of the future for the German record champions. Young, technically strong midfielders with exceptional development potential are already at the top of Munich’s agenda. Eichhorn also fits perfectly into the profile that Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have recently defined: young, capable of development, already capable of playing at professional level.
But the competition is fierce, and the decisive factor for Bayern will be how Eichhorn’s sporting plans develop: will he remain a regular at Hertha for another year – or will he be drawn to one of the European heavyweights early on, who will immediately offer him the prospect of a role in the professional squad?
