Bayern Munich’s summer transfer strategy remains in sharp focus as developments surrounding key targets and outgoings continue, according to FCBInside, The Athletic, Sky, and Bavarian Football Works.
The club’s efforts to bolster their attack have centered on the left wing, where Liverpool’s Luis Díaz has emerged as the chief objective. As reported by Bavarian Football Works and The Athletic, Bayern submitted an official €67.5 million bid for Díaz, despite Liverpool having previously informed them on July 2 that the Colombian was not for sale. While Díaz has indicated openness to a move and is reportedly keen on joining Bayern, Liverpool have maintained their stance, considering him an integral part of their plans for the upcoming season. For now, Bayern’s hopes rest on convincing Liverpool in later negotiations, but there are no signs of a breakthrough yet.
With Liverpool standing firm, Bayern have continued to evaluate alternatives. Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli remains under internal consideration, according to FCBInside drawing on The Athletic. The Brazilian is valued by manager Mikel Arteta, and talks are at an early stage, with no concrete negotiations yet. A transfer could become more realistic if Arsenal succeed in strengthening their flanks—specifically, should they move for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, another player on Bayern’s long-standing wishlist. However, any move for Rodrygo, especially by Bayern, is regarded as highly challenging due to financial constraints.
Leandro Trossard, also of Arsenal, has come up as another possibility if other targets fail, but no significant progress has been reported on this front. Trossard is said to be under consideration primarily if his current club alters its stance, with the player’s side open to a potential transfer, especially in case of increased competition in his position.
Meanwhile, efforts to strengthen the center-forward position continue. Bayern made a first proposal—reportedly €40 million plus bonuses—for Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. Stuttgart rejected this bid, setting their negotiating threshold at €65 million, per FCBInside and Bild. Bayern sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are preparing a second offer, but whether they will match the Bundesliga rivals’ valuation remains to be seen. Stuttgart, while publicly insisting on keeping Woltemade, are exploring options for a replacement, including Chelsea’s Armando Broja.
Internally, Bayern’s academy talents are also in the spotlight. Paul Wanner, returning from loan at Heidenheim, is attracting interest from Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Mönchengladbach and Stuttgart. FCBInside notes that Stuttgart have entered concrete talks with Bayern, favoring a loan (without a purchase option) as they look to augment their young squad for European competition. Bayern’s decision on Wanner may be influenced by Jamal Musiala’s injury and potential deals involving Nick Woltemade.
Despite high-profile setbacks in the market, FCBInside carries commentary from former Bundesliga professional Maik Franz cautioning against premature criticism of Bayern leadership, especially Max Eberl, insisting there remains time in the transfer window for significant moves.
As of now, Bayern’s transfer activities are marked by persistent pursuit of top targets, careful consideration of contingencies, and measured management of youth prospects—while serious breakthroughs on incoming talents remain elusive.
