Leon Goretzka’s departure from FC Bayern is drawing ever closer – and the midfielder’s trail apparently leads to Italy. After eight years with the German record champions, the international could open a new chapter in Serie A this summer
As reported by Sky, AC Milan are currently one of the hottest candidates in the race for the 31-year-old. The Rossoneri are said to have already held concrete talks with the player and see Goretzka as an ideal addition to their central midfield
Above all, his physical presence, his goalscoring ability from the second row and his international experience make him particularly interesting for the Italians – attributes that fit perfectly with Milan’s requirements profile
Nevertheless, a move to Italy is not yet a done deal. Clubs from the Premier League are also keeping a close eye on the situation and could enter the transfer poker in the coming weeks
The midfielder’s future therefore remains open – a bidding war between several top clubs cannot be ruled out

Despite the increasing speculation, Goretzka has clearly set his focus. According to Sky, the 31-year-old first wants to concentrate fully on the end of the season with FC Bayern and only then make a final decision
Given the current sporting situation, this is hardly surprising: Munich are still fighting for more titles and Goretzka is expected to play an important role in this – regardless of his imminent departure
With over 300 competitive matches to his name, Goretzka has been one of the defining faces at FC Bayern in recent years. 49 goals and 52 assists underline his influence on the Munich side’s game
An era is now coming to an end in the summer – and there are many indications that his next chapter will be written in Italy.
